Call for papers: Science POP – CRIR Internal Science Communication Competition | April 18, 2023

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Greater Montreal (CRIR) is pleased to have been selected to participate in the first edition of the provincial Science Communication Competiton Science POP.

Science POP is a Quebec-wide scientific communication competition brought forward by the IRCM and supported by the FRQS with the mission of promoting dialogue between science and society. Joining the Science POP initiative means developing skills in science communication and showing commitment to the community.

 

COMPETITION FOR THE CRIR STUDENTS  

 

CRIR’s Internal Scientific Communication Competition | April 18, 2023

The organizing committee of the CRIR internal competition, mainly composed of members of the CRIR student committee Ce lien s’ouvrira dans une nouvelle fenêtre”, will be pleased to welcome you for the CRIR science communication competition on April 18, 2023, in Montréal.

CRIR students at the master, doctoral and post-doctoral levels are invited to submit a presentation for one or more science communication challenges created by Science POP. The winner of each of the CRIR internal competition challenges will automatically become a finalist in the Science POP provincial grand finale. Finalists from the 15 participating institutions will be required to compete in person, in front of a diverse audience and jury members in Montreal at the end of May. The presentations will be broadcast live online, allowing anyone to attend, regardless of where they live.

Instructions for submitting a presentation:

? Deadline to submit a presentation: February 19, 11:30 pm.
? CRIR Internal Competition: Tuesday, April 18, 2023 | Montreal.

The CRIR students are invited to visit the CRIR Internal Competition websiteForm | Pick a Challenge tab, to familiarize themselves with the form before submitting their presentation. Please note that each person submitting a presentation must also complete the Registration | Attend in the Event form.

RULES | HOW TO PREPARE YOUR PRESENTATION (pdf)

You must be a CRIR student member.

? The title must not exceed 10 words.
? You must indicate your full name, your ongoing training level and the name of  affiliated.
? The description of your presentation (body of your submission) must not exceed 150 words.

IMPORTANT: In contrast to a traditional scientific abstract, it is crucial to put aside jargon and the typical Introduction – Purpose – Results – Conclusion structure. Don’t summarize all the aspects you will cover in your presentation. Instead, try to catch the readers’ attention by sparking their curiosity and making them want to know more.
