RELEASE – Fonds de recherche du Québec

LAunch of a new MODULE of the responsible conduct in research awareness tool

The Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) are adding themes to their awareness tool on responsible conduct in research. A 3rd module entitled “Research ethics” is now being added to raise awareness in the scientific community of best practices in research involving humans and animals, and research that may involve risks to the environment.

Aimed at both students and researchers, this tool offers an interactive approach that fosters engagement. It can be used in different contexts, for example to raise awareness among new people joining a research team or as a support tool for teaching purposes.

Each module is accessible in two ways: either via the Chief Scientist of Québec website to simply view the video capsules, or via a portal with registration to be able to answer a questionnaire and obtain a certificate of achievement. However, it is necessary to contact the FRQ to register for the portal, as indicated on the modules web page.

This 3rd awareness module complements those already offered, namely module 1 entitled “Responsible dissemination of research results” and module 2 entitled “Integrity of peer review”. These awareness tools cover key issues in responsible research conduct to help the scientific community adopt best practices.

These new modules offered by the FRQs are awareness tools and do not replace the mandatory research ethics training required by the REB for researchers, clinicians and CRIR students.
