Research Assistant

Job Description

The Sensorimotor Control and Rehabilitation Laboratory at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital, headed by CRIR researcher Mindy Levin (McGill), seeks a part-time research assistant. Research studies at the lab address the control of upper limb and trunk movement, muscle tone and brain plasticity mechanisms in healthy people and in people with neurological problems, such as Parkinson Disease and stroke. The methodologies used include the analysis of muscle and joint activity, clinical evaluations of motor, sensory and behavioral function, virtual reality technology, transcranial magnetic brain stimulation and brain imaging.

Responsabilities

  • Assist in the recruitment of participants for research studies.
  • Support students in their research activities.
  • Prepare documents for ethics committee submissions, communicate with the ethics committee and ensure the timely renewal of ethics certificates.
  • Participate in data collection for healthy subjects and clinical populations.
  • Participate in data analysis.
  • Maintain the website of the laboratory.

Education, experience and professional competencies

  • High level of proficiency in written and oral English and French languages.
  • Sc., MSc, or PhD in physiotherapy/occupational therapy, kinesiology, neuroscience, psychology, biomedical sciences or an associated area.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, and basic computer skills.

Conditions de travail

  • Type of position: Part-time (minimum 2.5 days/week)
  • Salary: Established based on experience and qualifications – scale between $25.25 to $45.22/hour
  • Starting date: As soon as possible.
  • Duration: 1 year (renewable)
