In either case, the problem studied must emerge from a clinical setting and\/or have a direct impact on the clinical setting.\u00a0In addition, it is important to demonstrate how the grant received will support your future research.<\/p>\n<p>The New Initiatives program encourages new collaborations, the sharing of expertise and the mobilization of different partners to address clinical issues. For this reason, multi-site applications (where research activities involve more than one CRIR research site) or inter-axis applications will be favored. Similarly, the New Initiatives program encourages intersectoral collaborations <a href=\"https:\/\/frq.gouv.qc.ca\/recherche-intersectorielle\/\">as defined by the Fonds de recherche du Qu\u00e9bec (FRQ)<\/a>, involving external partners to improve care and services and the fluidity of the continuum.<\/p>\n<p>The grant is not intended to support an already-formulated research project. CRIR Researcher membership status must be in order before submitting the application<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span>. Clinicians who are not currently CRIR members will be asked to become a member if the project is successful.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only CVs of persons who <strong>are not CRIR members<\/strong> must accompany the application.<\/li>\n<li>Researchers may submit more than one application as Principal Investigator. However:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A regular research member may not have more than three (3) active New Initiatives projects as principal investigator<\/strong>. A project is considered active as long as the final report has not been submitted to CRIR&#8217;s administrative office.<\/li>\n<li>For projects of equal quality, projects from principal investigators who do not have an active New Initiative grant will be given priority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In order to maximize the impact of the funded projects, the team could be accompanied by a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) or by the CRIR&#8217;s Coordinator for Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization, as needed, from the beginning to the end of the project. If relevant, the application may include a description of the expected role of the CRC or the CRIR&#8217;s Coordinator for Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span> To maintain your admissibility to <a href=\"https:\/\/crir.ca\/en\/members-and-health-care-professional\/programs-research-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CRIR financial support programs<\/a>, it is important to send all outstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/crir.ca\/en\/members-and-health-care-professional\/programs-research-support\/activities-and-accountability-report-new-initiatives-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Initiative Activity and Financial reports<\/a> or requests for extension before submitting your new funding application. To ensure that your researcher status is in good standing, please contact Sabine Leunens at <a href=\"mailto:sleunens.crir@ssss.gouv.qc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sleunens.crir@ssss.gouv.qc.ca.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> The authorized individual (in a management role) from the relevant clinical setting must submit a letter (Word or e-mail format) with the grant application. This letter must demonstrate the relevance and impact of the project on the clinical setting and specify the nature of the institutional contribution (in-kind or cash) if applicable.<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u00a0A respectful collaboration requires time, please do not approach CRCs and the clinical units at the last minute.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> The proposed budget must cover the costs necessary to carry out the research project. The grant is subject to the <a href=\"https:\/\/frq.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/common-general-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Common General Rules of the FRQ<\/a>. For example, costs related to the hiring of research personnel (technician, research assistant, coordinator, student, etc.), research equipment, dissemination and knowledge transfer are eligible. The budget must be justified.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> The New Initiatives program is designed to provide start-up grants. As such, applicants must present how the grant will help develop a research project to the point where external funding can be obtained and\/or may lead to another larger project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> Researchers and clinicians must mention CRIR in all presentations or publications linked to the project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> An activity report (maximum 2 pages and may include photos, videos and\/or testimonials) and a <strong>financial reports must be sent to CRIR 6 months following the end of the funding period, i.e. 24 months after receipt of the award letter<\/strong> using the <a href=\"https:\/\/crir.ca\/en\/members-and-health-care-professional\/programs-research-support\/activities-and-accountability-report-new-initiatives-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Activities and Financial Report Form<\/a> available on the CRIR website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"conditionfhccomtl\" class=\"highlight-box\">\n<h3><span style=\"color: #808000;\">Special conditions <\/span>&#8211; <span style=\"color: #000080;\">project funded by the Habilitas Foundation\/CCOMTL<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Among the projects meeting the general competition criteria, the Habilitas Foundation and CCOMTL will fund a project:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In which at least one of the research members is affiliated with the CCOMTL, <strong>and<\/strong> which will take place at least in part at one of the CCOMTL sites;<\/li>\n<li>Addressing the needs of the Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre clientele:\n<ul>\n<li>Special consideration will be given to projects addressing the needs of youth and young adults between the ages of 21-35.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Regarding the granting of funds:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Funds will be deposited in an account to be set up at CCOMTL, in the name of the project\u2019s principal investigator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Regarding acknowledgements in dissemination activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In addition to CRIR and the partner institution, the research team will be required to mention the Habilitas Foundation and the CCOMTL and to incorporate their logos in any presentation or publication related to the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Special considerations will also apply to monitoring and reporting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rather than completing the CRIR activity report and accountability form, the research team will be required to complete a 1-2 page activity report form, which will be provided by the Habilitas Foundation following the awarding of funds. Project description<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must submit a written <strong>project description<\/strong>\u00a0of <strong>maximum 4 pages, excluding appendices<\/strong> (margins: 2cm; spacing: simple; font: Times New Roman 12 or Arial 11). Note: A maximum of 4.5 pages is allowed for applications written in French.<\/p>\n<p>The project should clearly describe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Background and Rationale<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Methods<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Expected benefits<\/strong> for the clinical setting and research (also describe how this funding will lead to other grant applications)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribution<\/strong> and role of each member (indicate, if relevant, the expected role of the CRC or of the CRIR&#8217;s Coordinator for Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Multisite and\/or inter-axis component<\/strong>: Indicate how the project involves multiple CRIR sites and\/or axes; or, if not possible or not beneficial for the project, provide a brief justification.
