{"id":9022,"date":"2020-07-09T11:28:03","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T15:28:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crir.ca\/sharing-our-knowledge\/diffusion-en-libre-acces\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T12:33:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T16:33:54","slug":"open-access-publications","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/crir.ca\/en\/sharing-our-knowledge\/open-access-publications\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Access Publications"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Open access<\/strong> is a global movement for the democratization of research knowledge.<br \/>\nIt consists of making scientific publications and research data available online, free of charge and without restriction.<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/crir.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Open-Access.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9039\" src=\"https:\/\/crir.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Open-Access.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"86\" \/><\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Open Access<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Concerns CRIR researchers and students<\/li>\n<li>Ensures the dissemination of publicly funded research results<\/li>\n<li>Facilitates the utilization of research outcomes by a wide range of knowledge users: researchers, students, clinicians, policy makers, private sector organizations, not-for-profit organizations and the general public<\/li>\n<li>Improves the citation of scientific publications and their impact<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Granting Agencies<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Several research granting agencies are part of this movement and have developed policies, including :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/frq.gouv.qc.ca\/app\/uploads\/2022\/06\/politique-libre-acces-revisee_vf.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Politique de diffusion en libre acc\u00e8s<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (in French) of the\u00a0<strong>Fonds de recherche du Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong> (2022)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"highlight-box\">\n<p>The Fonds de recherche du Qu\u00e9bec open access policy <strong>was revised in 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grants and awards awarded after July 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peer-reviewed publications and Masters and Doctoral theses <strong>must be accessible in open access immediately<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Articles must be <strong>licensed under a Creative Commons<\/strong> CC-BY or CC-ND open license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grants awarded between April 2019 &#8211; June 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peer-reviewed publications must be freely accessible within 12 months of publication. The tool allows an author to enter the name of a funder, an institution, and the journal to which they plan to submit an article.
