The professor will work primarily in the field of visual impairment rehabilitation intervention. He\/she will supervise graduate students. He\/she will also participate in clinical research, in collaboration with other professionals or experts in the field. To find out more about \u00c9OUM and discover the excitement of its academic life, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/opto.umontreal.ca\/\">our website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Main duties<\/h2>\n<p>As a professor, you&#8217;ll have the opportunity to help promote the excellence of the \u00c9cole d\u2019optom\u00e9trie of Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al (EOUM).<\/p>\n<p>Through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline<br \/>\nin addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution. As such, you will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be involved in the following courses: Braille teaching (English and French), assistive technologies for vision restoration, service networks, etc.;<\/li>\n<li>Set up a research laboratory on the use of Braille and communication technologies in visual rehabilitation;<\/li>\n<li>Supervise students in graduate programs in vision sciences and visual rehabilitation;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to graduate teaching;<\/li>\n<li>Develop collaborations with other professionals, experts and stakeholders in your field of expertise<br \/>\nand research;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in activities to promote your discipline (publications, conferences, etc.) and contribute to the operation of the institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Profile required<\/h2>\n<p>To succeed in this role, you\u2019ll need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a PhD or equivalent degree in vision sciences or a related field;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels;<\/li>\n<li>Be able to supervise master&#8217;s and doctoral students in clinical and research settings;<\/li>\n<li>A solid publication record;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to secure research funding and establish an active research laboratory;<\/li>\n<li>Certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) and\/or as a Certified Assistive Technology Education Specialist (CATIS) by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation &amp; Education Professionals (ACVREP);<\/li>\n<li>Three years of clinical experience as a vision rehabilitation therapist;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to teach uncontracted and contracted Unified English Braille;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to teach uncontracted French braille (braille int\u00e9gral);<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use assistive technologies (in English and French) related to vision substitution (e.g. textto-speech and Braille displays);<\/li>\n<li>Teaching experience at the university level is desirable;<\/li>\n<li>And having completed post-doctoral training will be considered an asset;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate and to team work;<\/li>\n<li>An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to <a href=\"https:\/\/francais.umontreal.ca\/politique-linguistique\/la-politique-linguistique-en-bref\/\">Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al\u2019s Language Policy<\/a>.
