⚠️ Please note: Bringing a poster (optional) — some posters will be selected for the audiodescription practice session. However, if your poster is not chosen, you will be able to learn from the work done on the other posters.

What is it about?

Have you ever wondered how to make your research accessible to everyone?
This workshop is a hands-on, action-oriented introduction designed to demystify audio description. The goal is to provide you with clear reference points and guided support so that you can create an audio description of a scientific poster and make it more inclusive.
What you will learn:
- Basic principles: Understanding posture, vocabulary, and the intent behind effective audio description.
- Building confidence: Learning how to feel comfortable when practicing audio description.
- Practical skills: Practicing how to describe a scientific poster with clarity, effective information hierarchy, and audience comprehension in mind.
Workshop Agenda:
- Introduction: Welcome, context setting, and an introductory exercise followed by discussion.
- The basics: Key reference points on objectives, information selection, precision, and pacing.
- Break
- Hands-on workshop: An interactive session to practice audio describing a poster.
- Conclusion: Group discussion, feedback, and sharing of useful resources.
Trainer:

Aurélia Fleury
Cultural Accessibility Specialist
Aurélia Fleury, a consultant specializing in cultural accessibility and a project manager in exhibition coordination, began her career in science museums, notably at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. She has extensive experience in accessibility across science and art museums, including:
- Collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts on audio description projects.
- Training mediation teams at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.
- Collaboration with CRIR and Société Inclusive on inclusive exhibition projects.
- Guest lecturer on universal accessibility at UQAM and UQTR.
- Coordination of the traveling exhibition Le silence qui parle (2025–2026), presented notably at the Musée de la civilisation, the Écomusée du Fier Monde, and several libraries across Québec.
