A research associate / lab manager is required for maternity leave replacement at McGill University in Montreal, Québec. The work location will be the Lethbridge-Layton-MacKay Rehabilitation Centre (LLMRC) to support research focused primarily on the biomechanical, neuromuscular and clinical aspects of osteoarthritis and sports biomechanics, under the direction of Dr. Shawn Robbins. The position is part-time at approximately 16 hours/week. A successful applicant will support all technical aspects of lab activities, including equipment set-up, data acquisition and analysis. Additional duties include subject recruitment, assisting in the preparation of grant applications and journal papers, assisting graduate students with data acquisition and experimental design, managing day-to-day operations of the laboratory, etc.

Operations at the LLMRC are conducted in both English and French, and a working knowledge of both languages is necessary.
Applicants should hold a graduate degree (MSc, PhD) in kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, biomedical engineering or other related discipline, and be legally entitled to work in Canada. They must have 2 years of research experience.

In addition, applicants should have experience in many of the following areas:

  • Kinematic motion analysis and modeling
  • Kinetic/force plate data acquisition
  • Surface electromyography
  • Research methodology
  • Matlab programming (or similar programming experience)
  • Statistical analysis (e.g. SPSS)

Experience in the following areas is also desirable:

  • Clinical gait analysis
  • Medical imaging
  • Visual 3D

The successful applicant will support research in a laboratory at the LLMRC which is equipped with:

  • 8 camera Qualisys motion capture system
  • 16-channel Delsys Trigno wireless surface EMG system with integrated tri-axial accelerometers
  • 2 AMTI force plates
  • Cybex Norm Isokinetic Dynamometer

The position is for a 1 year contract (16 hours/week) beginning in September 2019. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
