Job brief

In order to better support caregivers, the Government of Quebec has created a Quebec Observatory of Caregivers. The CIUSSS west-central Montreal has been given responsibility for the development, organization and administrative management of the Observatory.

The mission of the Observatoire québécois de la proche aidance, as prescribed by law, is to provide reliable and objective information on close aid through the observation, monitoring, analysis and sharing of knowledge. More specifically, the Observatory’s functions are to collect, integrate, compile, analyse and disseminate information, in particular of a statistical nature, on aid; to monitor the evolving needs of caregivers as well as effective and innovative practices, measures and actions at national and international level to support them; to facilitate the transfer of knowledge for the benefit of the various stakeholders involved in the field of assistance; facilitate aid collaborations, in particular with academic institutions, research centres, other observatories or government agencies involved in research activities or the promotion of clinical excellence and the efficient use of resources in the field of health and social services.

The Observatory, in development, aims to be a crossroads of production, sharing and transfer of reliable, essential and relevant knowledge to make known and recognize the close aid in order to better support all the actors concerned.

Job Summary

Under the authority of the Executive Coordinator of the Directorate of Academic Affairs and Research Ethics, the person who holds this position supports the Observatory team by carrying out documentation, data collection and processing, analysis and writing activities in various formats.

Responsibilities

  • Support, in collaboration with the project manager of the monitoring and knowledge production cluster, the development of the Observatory’s organizational plan and content;
  • Carry out, in collaboration with the project manager of this pole and the librarian, reviews of writings of various kinds around the near help (state of knowledge, answers and rapid reviews, systematic review, etc.);
  • Contribute to the drafting of research protocols, the collection and processing of information, the analysis and writing of productions of various kinds (tables, key figures, highlights, terminological reference in close help, thematic portraits, etc.);
  • Support the coordination of scientific activities and events;
  • Support the organization of meetings of external and internal committees in connection with the governance and structure of the Observatory as well as consultations with experts and various stakeholders;
  • Participate in the validation and quality assurance work of the Observatory’s productions;
  • Contribute to any other task related to his/her function at the request of his/her immediate superior.
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate university discipline such as administrative sciences, humanities or social sciences, or hold a comparative evaluation of studies carried out outside Québec issued by the competent ministry;
  • Holding a master’s or doctoral degree in research is considered an asset.

Special requirements

  • Demonstrated research, analytical and writing experience;
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills an asset;
  • Knowledge of the field of close help, an asset;
  • Knowledge of the health and social services network;
  • Experience with literature reviews of various types;
  • Experience contributing to supporting knowledge mobilization and transfer activities;
  • Experience writing in diverse formats (list productions in the CV);
  • Mastery of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, teams, one drive);
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and qualitative analysis software, an asset;
  • Knowledge of bibliographic software an asset;
  • Bilingual: French and English.
