Job description

Rehabilitation teams in the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal (CCOMTL) and CIUSSS South-Central Montreal (CCSMTL) expressed concerns about services offered to Eeyou (Cree) and Inuit people who come to Montreal for rehabilitation services. In response to these challenges, the ICE project aims to establish the necessary partnerships and define an action plan that will allow Cree and Inuit service users to achieve optimal and sustained health outcomes by offering Inclusive, Culturally safe and Equitable rehabilitation services. The selected research assistant will therefore have the opportunity to support this partnership building and coordinate the ICE project.

Main responsibilities

Project coordination & networking

  • Coordinate meetings with project partners and ensure follow-up
  • Prepare brief minutes following research team meetings
  • Manage the list of project-partners
  • Organize project documentation
  • Contribute to preparing funding grant applications

Data collection and analysis

  • Contribute to recruiting participants; ensure ethical management of documents and other materials needed for data collection
  • Organise and lead story telling, interviews, and focus group discussions with partners
  • Participate in the coding and analysis of qualitative data

Knowledge mobilization

  • Participate in the development knowledge mobilization tools, lay language reports and scientific communications & publications
  • And other administrative or research-related tasks.

Profile required

  • Hold a graduate degree or is a registered student in health & social sciences or the equivalent
  • Have excellent oral and writing skills in English and in French
  • Have very good scientific writing skills
  • Have proficiency in Windows environment, office software (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, Teams)
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Has excellent organizational skills, rigor and flexibility
  • Have good skills to navigate political relations with respect and diplomacy

Additional assets

  • Have knowledge or experience in qualitative research
  • Have knowledge of or previous experience using indigenous research methods
  • Have previous experience working in partnerships with First Nations and Inuit
  • Have good mastery of Nvivo
  • Have knowledge of Cree or Inuit culture
  • Speak Cree language or Inuktitut
  • Priority will be given to candidates self-defined as Cree or Inuit

  • Job title: Research assistant
  • Work location : Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Center, 7000 Sherbrooke St W., Montreal. Hydribe work modalities also possible (in-person & teleworking)
  • Status: Part-time, 1 day/week, flexible schedule. 6-month contract, renewable
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: According to the current rates of the establishment; to be determined by the candidate’s experience and level of education
