The Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest) is committed to providing users with timely access to a continuum of care that meets the specific needs of each individual. The territory covered by the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest includes some 345,000 people who are served by more than 30 care centres. It includes one of Montreal’s leading hospitals (the Jewish General Hospital) and a wide range of complementary care centres, including three specialized hospitals, five CLSCs, two rehabilitation centres, six residential and long-term care centres, two day centres and several affiliated research centres. Treatment and care is provided by more than 11,000 staff and some 750 physicians.

As part of its academic mission, under the aegis of the Direction des affaires académiques et de l’éthique de la recherche (DAA), the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest supports the advancement of knowledge and practice in health and the social sciences through excellence in research, teaching and innovation, which ultimately enhances the care and services provided by this institution. In terms of research, the DAA’s mandate is to support, among other things, the development of a scientific culture in physical rehabilitation through the mobilization of knowledge, research, and innovations to ensure an exceptional patient experience (knowledge.reaptation). The DAA works closely with its partners in the Rehabilitation and Multidisciplinary Services Branch (MCRD) and the Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Users’ Committee. The CIUSSS Centre-Ouest is a proud founding member of the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation du Montréal métropolitain (www.crir.ca).

Mandate

Under the direct supervision of the team leader and the authority of the head of program administration of the Academic Affairs and Research Ethics Branch of the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, the successful candidate will act as a clinical research coordinator in rehabilitation (physical disability-PD, intellectual disability-ID, autism spectrum disorder-ASD). It will ensure the implementation of the research program and the deployment of activities related to the university mission. More specifically, this person will coordinate research, monitor compliance with ethical standards, contribute to the development of research partnerships and ensure networking between researchers and clinical settings. It will also provide support to clinical teams in the development of research, plan knowledge transfer activities and contribute to the scientific animation of the community, offer support to researchers and their students and staff, as well as participate in accountability. She will perform any other related duties at the request of her immediate supervisor.

More specifically, this person will have among others as main tasks:

Research

  • Coordinate the evaluation of the local feasibility of DP-DI-TSA rehabilitation research projects submitted to the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest and ensure compliance with ethical standards;
  • Support researchers, managers and clinical teams in the implementation (including the recruitment of participants) and follow-up of DP-DI-TSA rehabilitation research projects conducted within the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest;
  • Support researchers, managers and clinical teams in the development of research grants, including the negotiation of the resources necessary for DP-ID-ASD rehabilitation research projects conducted within the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest;
  • Support stakeholders and managers in the preparation of quotes and grant applications for research projects, by promoting projects aimed at the continuous improvement of the quality of rehabilitation services DP-ID-ASD of the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest;
  • Support stakeholders and managers in their efforts to implement best clinical practices, among other things, by identifying knowledge from the literature on best clinical practices relevant to the DP-ID-ASD clientele of the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest;

Knowledge transfer and scientific life

  • Develop a program of knowledge transfer activities, animate scientific life and organize scientific conferences;
  • Contribute to the development of knowledge transfer tools, in collaboration with researchers and other stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain the new website of the research coordination team (savoirs.readaptation).

Networking and mobilization

  • Liaise between the various DP-ID-ASD rehabilitation research partners affiliated with the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest, such as researchers, clinical members, research professionals, students and intersectoral collaborators;
  • Ensure networking with external partners, in particular by representing the institution on committees such as CRIR or other regional or provincial initiatives;
  • Organize, co-facilitate and take charge of the logistical aspects of certain meetings (preparation of agendas and minutes, etc.);
  • Encourage consultation both internally and externally with potential partners;
  • Support and engage clinicians in their participation in research and knowledge transfer activities.

Accountability

  • Maintain the CIUSSS Centre-Ouest’s DP-ID-ASD rehabilitation research management database;
  • Collaborate with its supérieur.es in the extraction of statistical data and development of accountability reports related to DP-ID-ASD rehabilitation research.

Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate first university degree such as in administrative sciences, humanities or social sciences or hold a comparative evaluation of studies carried out outside Québec issued by the competent ministry;
  • 2nd cycle degree in the fields of social sciences or health, or any other discipline relevant to the position, an asset;
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position;
  • Relevant experience in knowledge transfer or animation of scientific life;
  • Experience in the health system and research environment is desirable;
  • Mastery of the Office Suite, the use of documentary databases as well as quantitative or qualitative analysis software, an asset;
  • Have skills with social media, an asset;
  • Understand the organizational issues, of DP-DI-ASD rehabilitation, an asset;
  • Have an excellent command of French and English, spoken and written;
