Development of a decision aid for treatment in spinal muscular atrophy

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The objective of this research project is to develop a decision aid to support clinicians and families to select a treatment plan for individuals affected by SMA.
With the support of the research team, the postdoctoral fellow will:
- Acquire training on the Ottawa Decision Aid Framework.
- Conduct a decision need assessment among SMA leading clinicians and families
- Develop a decision aid.
- Write a grant proposal for implementation and assessment of the SMA decision aid to CIHR.
This postdoctoral fellowship will take place at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in collaboration with Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) and the Neuromuscular Disease Network for Canada (NMD4C). This well established and dynamic environment fosters professional development and interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Additional Information
- Preferred background in healthcare.
- Requirement: PhD completed or to have his/her thesis defense by January 2022.
- Preferred assets: qualitative research background, prior experience in decision aid development and/or knowledge transfer, qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, and fluency in English (written, spoken, and understood)..
TERMS
Funding is available for 1 year, with possibility of an extension.
SALARY
40,000 CAD/yr
