Recruitment: Postdoctoral Fellow | Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center MUHC – School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, McGill University

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to join the Participation and Knowledge Translation in Childhood Disability Lab at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre, a research institute affiliated with the McGill University, under the supervision of Keiko Shikako, Ph.D., OT, CRIR–Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre, Canada Research Chair in Childhood Disability: Participation and Knowledge Translation.

The postdoc will join ongoing funded knowledge mobilization and implementation projects, and is expected to lead specific components of the projects:

  1. Policy analysis, community interviews, and analysis related to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Canada (SSHRC Insight Project).
  2. Implementation and evaluation of the Jooay App with municipal and community organizations actors (CIHR-CHILD-BRIGHT SPOR Network project).

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Contribute to the overall project development, including communication with interested parties and projects’ collaborators,
  • Implement and evaluate projects’ steps according to approved research protocols,
  • Conduct interviews, focus groups and knowledge mobilization strategies,
  • Conduct qualitative analysis and policy analysis,
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, manuscripts and grant applications,
  • Present work at internal, local, national and international meetings,
  • Supervise and train students,
  • Engage in management and administrative duties related to the research program in collaboration with the research staff,
  • Collaborate with other network members and external collaborators,
  • Actively engage and contribute to the PAR-KT lab activities (weekly lab meetings, journal club, and other training initiatives) and affiliated networks such as CHILD-BRIGHT and CanNRT.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree (obtained within the past 1-3 years),
  • The applicant should also have a background in areas related to knowledge translation, implementation science, public health or public policy,
  • The applicant should preferably have experience in childhood disability research,
  • Ability to work on independent research projects, coordinate efforts with other research trainees, and community and policy collaborators,
  • Track record indicating ability to conduct scholarly work, prepare publications and contribute to grant applications, ethics applications, conduct interviews and qualitative analysis,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Ability to speak/write French is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

  • Status: Temporary, Full-time (1 year, renewable – candidate is expected to acquire external funding for a second year)
  • Pay Scale: $55,000/year
  • Work Shift: from _9__ a.m. to _5_ p.m., Mondays to Fridays
  • Work Site: Remote 4 days/week, at MAB-Mackay site (PAR-KT Lab), Montreal, Quebec once a week – Candidates must have a residential address in Quebec during the tenure of the position.
