BIOGRAPhy

Anastasia is a physiotherapist in the Stroke and Neuro Program at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital. With an interest in research, she focuses on the use of virtual reality to improve ambulation and functional recovery post-stroke. Anastasia is interested in exploring innovative rehabilitation techniques that enhance mobility and neuroplasticity, aiming to improve outcomes for stroke survivors.

Conference Abstract

WALK better and safer in the community with Augmented Gait trAINing (WALKAGAIN) “

Stroke survivors face increased attentional demands when re-engaging in community activities. Early, individualized rehabilitation is essential for successful integration, but research on augmented reality gait training in rehabilitation is limited. This pilot study evaluated the feasibility and effects of adding augmented reality treadmill training to stroke rehabilitation. Thirteen participants completed up to 10 sessions using a unidirectional treadmill (C-Mill) or omnidirectional treadmill with VR (Infinadeck). Both systems improved gait, participation, quality of life, and achievement gaps. The C-Mill was more effective for gait training, while the Infinadeck benefited those in community ambulation.
