Conference abstract

« Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation and its Implications in the Stroke Population  »

Pelvic floor rehabilitation is an increasingly popular, exciting and expanding field of practice.   Its benefits are proven, and it is now considered the first-line approach in the treatment of various disorders related to the neuromuscular, genito-urinary and digestive systems.  This lecture will provide an overview of the pelvic floor and its related structures, including a description of its role in core stabilization, bowel and bladder control and sexual function.  Indications, applications and evidence for pelvic floor rehabilitation will be outlined, with a special focus on the stroke population.
