About this conference

Mental Health Matters: A CRIR New Initiative to Optimize and Support the Mental Health of Children with Disabilities & their Families

Children with developmental disabilities and their caregivers often encounter complex challenges that profoundly affect their mental health and well-being. This presentation will reveal the findings of a recent environmental scan that evaluated the availability and accessibility of mental health services for this vulnerable population. We will also share insights from in-depth interviews with families and clinicians, highlighting the real-world experiences and unmet needs within this community. Moreover, you will discover our innovative knowledge mobilization tools, including a comprehensive online searchable database of existing resources and an info-brief designed to help families identify early warning signs of mental health issues in their children. Join us to learn how these resources can empower clinicians and families to ultimately enhance the mental health of children with developmental disabilities.
