A new “New Initiatives” project made possible thanks to the CISSS de la Montérégie‑Centre

Additional funding to support the needs of people living with visual impairment

Last fall, the CRIR, in collaboration with the Fondation Habilitas and the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, announced the funding of seven projects submitted as part of the New Initiatives program – 2024–2025 competition. Today, we are pleased to announce that an eighth project, among those recommended by the program’s evaluation committee, will be launched thanks to funding from the Fonds de l’Institut Nazareth and Louis‑Braille (Fonds INLB) of the CISSS de la Montérégie‑Centre.

This newly funded project, entitled “Investigating the Influence of Visual and Non‑Visual Cues on Vestibulo‑Ocular Reflex Dynamics,” is led by Maxime Maheu (researcher, CRIR – IURDPM) and Isabelle Faubert (clinician member, CRIR – IURDPM). The project aims to lay the groundwork for the development of methods to assess vestibular function in individuals living with visual impairments. This initiative aligns with the mission of the Fonds INLB, which is to support the needs of this population.

We congratulate the entire research team on the launch of this new initiative and thank our partner, the CISSS of Montérégie‑Centre, for its support of clinical research!
