Business Analyst

Job Overview

Under the direction of the project leader, the Business Analyst is responsible for creating business and functional requirements for the technological platform of the BRILLIANT project. Working with other members of the team and stakeholders, the qualified person will perform a variety of specialized technical tasks according to the established methodology.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work closely with the project lead, research team and project officer to identify, analyze and validate IT business needs.
  • Develop, implement and support business analytics for the overall BRILLIANT Project & subprojects under the BRILLIANT umbrella.
  • Translate high level project business requirements into functional specifications and a conceptual system design including but not limited to high-level use cases and mock-ups.
  • Ensure that deliverables conform with BRILLIANT requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity across the research sites.
  • Document processes and procedures; create and document specifications required for the research project.
  • Develop functional specifications required for call for tender process and for in-house application development.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of applications of industry partners
  • Identify and recommend ways to increase efficiency and automation of business processes and their related activities.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders and programmers throughout the development process.
  • Design custom reports to enable users to maximize the potential of systems at their disposal for management and decision-making tools.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize efficiency.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • University degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a role with IT systems or business analyst; experience working in the healthcare domain is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • Business and functional knowledge of clinical settings in general and rehabilitation in particular.
  • Knowledge of the following would be an asset: business process. techniques (BPMN), Master Solution Delivery methodologies. (Macroscope Productivity Center), SOA concepts, BI concepts.
  • Analysis certification is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence tools.
  • Experience with data analytics and large databases (structured and non-structured).
  • Experience with large scale organizational change efforts.
  • Demonstrates an ability to understand and clarify the business needs conveyed by researchers and stakeholders.
  • Has a proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
  • Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Is detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Is fluent in both English and French (speaking and writing).
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Fosters a cooperative team environment.
