Established within the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the Institut universitaire sur la réadaptation en déficience physique de Montréal (IURDPM) of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-Montréal (CCSMTL) brings together more than 50 researchers and 240 interdisciplinary students dedicated to the development of knowledge and practices in the areas of mobility, cognition and communication, as well as the environment and services. The research teams are deployed in the Gingras-Lindsay and Laurier pavilions. The IURDPM is a member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Metropolitan Montreal (CRIR), one of the largest rehabilitation research centres in Canada. Funding for this position is provided in part through CRIR’s infrastructure funds. IURDPM website: https://iurdpm.ca/fr CRIR website: https://crir.ca. Homeport: Pavillon Gingras, 6300 Darlington, Montreal, H3S 2J

Key Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the head of the IURDPM department and in close collaboration with the scientific director, the person holding the position as well as the clinical research coordination team, actively participates in the deployment of the knowledge transfer dimension related to the IURDPM’s academic mission.

Overall, this person is mandated to capture the innovations resulting from the research activities of the IURDPM, to promote them and to contribute to their dissemination or transfer to other environments. Specifically, it develops procedures to identify initiatives with transfer potential, participates in the prioritization of projects and proposes relevant activities according to transfer objectives, the needs of different audiences and opportunities. She supports the IURDPM’s programming of scientific activities, coordinates the creation of practice tools resulting from research projects and participates in the organization of thematic events. It provides advisory support to research teams in integrated knowledge transfer. It helps mobilize IURDPM researchers, their students, clinical communities and partners around collaborative projects. It contributes to accountability for the dimension of the university’s mission related to knowledge transfer.

Main tasks

IURDPM KT Programming* Identify needs, target audiences, analyze opportunities and issues in terms of knowledge transfer at IURDPM;* Develop and implement the programming of activities aimed at transferring knowledge from the work of researchers, their students and IURDPM partners. Aligns this programming with that of CRIR.

Outreach * Participate in the dissemination of the research teams’ achievements at the local, national and international levels* Support the research teams in their initiatives aimed at enlightening decision-makers and influencing public policies;* Help structure the process of processing ministerial mandates and support some projects
Knowledge transfer products;* Implement strategies to capture and document initiatives from IURDPM researchers and their partners that show a high potential for transferability to other settings;* Participate in the prioritization of initiatives that will be supported for the production of knowledge transfer tools;* Coordinate projects aimed at the development of knowledge transfer products such as intervention manuals, assessment tools or training.

Events and networking* Contribute to the creation of networking opportunities between researchers, clinicians and other stakeholders;* Support the organization of scientific events for various audiences, including clinical stakeholders, decision-makers and the general public.

Support for research teams* Participate in the development of standard processes and templates to equip research teams with collaborative research and integrated knowledge transfer;* Provide advisory support to research teams when they prepare or deploy a transfer plan related to a specific research project.

Monitoring and Reporting* Identify targets, indicators and milestones to monitor the IURDPM’s knowledge transfer programming;* Participate in reporting on the knowledge transfer dimension, including the preparation of the IURDPM’s annual report.

Other mandates* Participate in the organization and facilitation of certain committees, ensure the logistical and administrative aspects of certain meetings (e.g., preparation of agendas, drafting of minutes);* Ensures a certain monitoring of the progress of knowledge and practices in terms of knowledge transfer;* Perform any other related task at the request of his/her immediate supervisor;* Participate in the upgrading of IURDPM staff and research on approaches to KT and the training of the next generation in his or her field of expertise.

Academic

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate academic discipline such as business science, humanities or social sciences;
  • Graduate degree in an appropriate discipline such as health sciences or social sciences is an asset;
  • Continuing or academic training in knowledge transfer required.

Skills and Work Experience

  • At least two years’ experience in knowledge transfer, valorization and mobilization in a collaborative context, particularly in project management aimed at the development of research-based practice tools;
  • Experience in training development;
  • Knowledge of integrated knowledge transfer models or methods;
  • Experience in the development of dissemination plans, training specifications, popularized texts or intervention tools;
  • Good knowledge of the field of social research;
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation services is an asset.

Languages and software used on a regular basis

  • Fluency in spoken and written French, functional communication in spoken and written English is a requirement (intermediate level);
  • Proficiency in the Windows environment, office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams).
